He's been called tuta, demonyo, devil. After 40 years in public service, former defense minister and now Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile opens up about his life in politics.

In a documentary aired on ABS-CBN News Channel, Enrile insisted that the declaration of martial law in 1972 was necessary to combat the rise of the communist insurgency and unrest in the country.

Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, one of the most powerful men in the country during martial law, has no birth certificate. Born in Cagayan, Enrile grew up in an extremely poor town without a chapel or clinic.

Enrile also tells the story of the torture he suffered at the hands of Japanese soldiers during World War II..
